Product Description
These mappa burl wood veneer sheets feature a beautiful color combination ranging from light tan to golden hues with dark red/brown burl pockets. The veneer has a unique leather-like aroma and originates from Western Europe. Mappa is the only poplar species that develops this rare burl formation.
Mappa burl veneers require grain filler to level the natural voids in burl pockets. These voids are characteristic of the species, not imperfections. Some burl pockets may fall out during handling, which is normal for this challenging veneer type. Unlike walnut burl, mappa doesn't feature tight, smooth burl clusters.
Fine mappa burl furniture pieces often showcase open voids in the burl figure, while others use epoxy mixed with wood dust for filling, followed by careful sanding.
